The Real Story About Sweepstakes [article from Articleranks]

The Real Story About Sweepstakes

In the United States, sweepstakes used to be a household name, and a promotional tool that was known by everyone. While sweepstakes are not as prevalent as they used to be, they are still in existence, although they may go by other names as well. They usually have the goal of promoting the products or services of a particular store or organization. They are a promotional tool that works very well for creating excitement.

Don't confuse sweepstakes with state lottery systems. They are not the same at all, and in fact, you will often hear sweepstakes include the term 'no purchase necessary' so that they fully stay within the law and are not confused with some kind of lottery. This type of promotion is very heavily regulated and lotteries that are not sponsored by the state are illegal.

It is quite obvious that whatever company is running the promotion wants you to buy something. However, their goal may not necessarily be for you to buy something at that particular moment, but instead, at a later date. The points of the sweepstakes is the same as television, radio and print commercials - to get the company in front of the consumer, namely, you.

Sweepstakes are also known by second chance drawings, or sometimes second chance sweepstakes. Most people are familiar with this type of promotion, even if they aren't familiar with the term sweepstakes. For instance, instant win soda pop bottles that require you to enter a code online to have a second chance to win is a form of these second chance drawings, as are scratch tickets with a chance of an instant win, and the ability to turn it in for another chance to win.

One of the main questions that people ask about Sweepstakes is what the best ones to enter are. Since each year, sweepstakes change, and there are only a few annual ones, the better question is actually how can you improve your odds of winning at a sweepstakes. There are three things that you can use to judge whether a sweepstakes is worth entering.

The first thing that you should try to find are sweepstakes that have few entries. This is fairly easy to find if you know what you need to look for. Search for sweepstakes that are very difficult to enter, and require filling out long forms or surveys. Most of the potential entrants will have left before entering and that gives you a good chance of winning something. Also, if you find sweepstakes that only accept a certain gender, age group or require you to be from one of the short list of states they provide, you will have a greater chance.

Obviously, a sweepstakes where you can enter more than one time, or ideally as many times as you want will give you the best chance of winning something. There are a few of these out there, but they are rather hard to find.

The final thing to look out for is for sweepstakes that have a large selection of prizes, especially many different smaller prizes, This will increase your chances of winning something even if it isn't the grand prize.
