Do You Have Enough Time For Friendship? [article from Articleranks]

Do You Have Enough Time For Friendship?

If you currently feel that you don't have enough friends in your life, one reason may be that you have let yourself become too busy to make time for the relationships you already have.

Nurturing and maintaining friendships requires effort and commitment. Many of us let our lives become so busy with work and other commitments that we don't get around to scheduling time for pleasure and renewal with the friends, relatives and acquaintances we already have.

Make a concerted effort to regularly keep up with your friends, and don't be shy to accept the invitations (though you want to be realistic here) - this can surely improve your social life significantly!

Consider the following - do you know of anyone who will answer your call immediately and give you a warm hello? Are these people that you could count on to help you in a crisis? Are you able to have heart-to-hearts with them? Do you have fun when you are together? But most of all, how happy are you to have them as your friends?

Ask yourself as well why exactly you may not be seeing each other too much. Have you grown apart? Did you disagree on something?

You really need to adjust your schedule if, after asking yourself all the above questions, you have come to the conclusion that you're simply too busy to touch base with your friends. Think of your life's vision-mission statement - does your schedule live up to it? Is your busy schedule making you miss out on the finer things in life, or worse, forcing you to go against your convictions?

You also need to do some self-talk when it comes to finding out why you have become too busy for friendship, if that is the case. Have you forsaken relationships with human beings such as yourself for the superficial benefits of material things like money, gadgets, or even your collection of stamps, antiques or vintage baseball magazines? Is your schedule too fully booked because you could never utter a simple "No" to end the discussion? Do you do other people's work when they, in fact, should be doing it themselves? If so, why? Do you believe that everything depends on you?

Aside from examining your current lifestyle and making sure it is conversant with your principles, it also helps to pray for guidance, and if need be, some meaning in your existence. Make sure that you schedule adequate time for the things that are truly most important to you.

If you really want to keep friends in your life, make a space in your schedule, and a space in your heart for them.
