Catering Services
People often hire caterers for their wedding receptions. A caterer generally provides food and beverages and they have a significant role in your wedding. If you have previous experience with caterers, then good for you. But you don't have to worry if you've never hired a caterer before.
Most wedding reception venues offer catering services, so you may not need to find a caterer. And if the reception venue does not offer catering services, they could recommend one for you. Of course, you should still do your part and research. A caterer has to provide you with professional references. You have to contact the references.
You have to make sure that caterer is experienced, reliable, and can give quality product and service. Just because someone recommends a caterer doesn't mean that it's the best one for you. A caterer might be very good for certain events, but not for others. There is also the possibility that a caterer has never tried its service for huge events. One may be experienced with weddings and another with conventions.
The 2 styles of catering are:
Seated Dinner. There is a greater number of servers in a seated dinner than in a buffet dinner. More staff is needed to serve the food. With a seated dinner, you need more tables and chairs for most of the guests will eat at the same time. A seated dinner offers less flexibility for your guests, because they usually have a couple of options to choose from. You can make things easier by including menu options in the wedding invitations to let your guests choose what they like. This lets you work with your caterer on the final count.
Buffet. You can have less chairs and tables. A buffet would also give your guests more options, and they don't have to eat at the same time. A buffet also provides a wider array of food choices. Lesser staff would be needed. In addition to the clear advantage of a more flexible buffet dinner, your hungrier guests can go back for seconds. You stand to save money because of the lesser staff needed.
