When it comes to a formal versus a casual approach to your wedding invitations, there is nothing inherently right or wrong about it. That is a decision which would depend on the scale of the event.

In some situations, it would even be appropriate to include the invitation to the wedding reception with the wedding invitation. At other times, creating a separate invitation for both events would be more prudent.

Note. E-mail RSVPs are still not acceptable unless the event is informal. There is hardly ever a time when it would be appropriate to invite a guest to your wedding but not to your reception as well.

To the wedding and reception invitations, the reply card is a fairly new accessory. In this card, there are lines to be filled out and it is also included inside the invitation. On the reply card's envelope, you are then required to provide a stamp.
