Affordable Destination Weddings: Get Married In A National Park

These days, more and more couples want to arrange affordable destination weddings. Getting away from your home setting for your wedding can have a lot of advantages. It makes the whole occasion memorable for everybody, and many destinations are set up for weddings, making the whole thing very easy to arrange.

Getting married away from home does not mean you have to leave the country. Of course, you can if you wish to, but there is little reason to get married at expensive destinations such as Mexico or the Caribbean. Getting married on the coast, near a lake, or in the mountains, is just as romantic. Getting married in these locations will be much more affordable for you and your guests.

Have you ever entertained the thought of getting married in a national park? The striking natural beauty of parks are a perfect setting for a wedding. You can have stunning scenery providing a natural backdrop for all your wedding photos.

Though some national parks don't allow weddings, the majority of them do. In fact, the chapel in Yosemite National Park, is considered top of the list when it comes to wedding locations. Among other popular parks for wedding locations are Grand Teton in Wyoming, Glacier in Montana, and the Smoky Mountains at the border of Tennesse and North Carolina.

All the parks have chapels for weddings, and facilities that can be used for wedding receptions. Many other parks may have chapels or lodges or allow you to get married in certain areas of the park. You can find a list of national parks on line, and then see if they offer accommodations for weddings. You might have a varied choice of locations.

You might need to apply for a special permit to use the park facilities. You need to fill out and return this form in plenty of time ahead of the wedding, because it can take a while for it to be processed. And, double check that you have your permit with you the day of the wedding. You will also need to apply for a wedding license in the state you are getting married in.

The only thing that can dampen your wedding plans is that you usually have to keep weddings at national parks fairly small. The number of guests and cars allowed is going to be pretty limited.

But, if you have a small budget for your wedding, it is probably going to be in your favor. Instead of saying that you cannot afford to invite a lot of people, you can simply explain that the park will only allow 20 guests or whatever. With that excuse, you will be able to spend less and not come through as a cheapskate.

A downside is that other visitors will be at the park as well. Tourists and other visitors will probably be around. Of course you can book a chapel, but if you want to have your wedding or the meal afterward in a picnic area, other people could be there too. You might also be required to pay an entrance fee to get into the park.

But if you like the great outdoors and appreciate awesome scenery, national parks are a great choice for affordable destination weddings.
